“Basic Rhythms in Social Dancing & Performance: Partnering, Footwork & Culture”
(Course includes end of Session showing/open house).
Groups are divided according to age, and number of students registered in class.Level: Beginner for all classes. No Partner or experience is needed. Dates & Topics:Session I: September 9th-25th - October 16th
Argentine Tango is a social dance and a musical genre that brings with it as rich a history as the country it originated in, Argentina. It is a dance with an exciting improvisational aspect to it, allowing dancers to bring their own styles and embellishments to the dance.
Tejano Dancing focuses on the richness of the traditional Mexican-American dance. Influences range from Latin American music and Texas-Country Western. Tejano styles include the Mexican Polka, Ranchera, Corrido and the Cumbia.
Session II: October 28th – December 11th (No class during Thanksgiving Week)
Salsa has roots in the Caribbean, Latin and North America. Salsa is an energetic, social dance allowing dancers to be expressive in a social dance venue. It’s modern styles incorporate elements of jazz, hip-hop and samba.
Swing is a lively style of social dancing. Considered both hip and cool, swing dancing is a favorite among social dancers of all ages. It’s musical influences come from the Big Band music of the 30’s and 40’s, Contemporary, Soul, Funk and Jazz today. Schedule:TUESDAY
5:30-6:15pm. Ages: 10-17
THURSDAY
5:30-6:15pm. Ages: 4-6 & Ages: 7-9 Each class meets for 45 minutes once a week

$5 off if registered by September 1st or at the Open House (for Session II) What to wear:Wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move in and slick soled shoes, dance shoes, dress shoes, or tennis shoes.
