La Lucha Sigue. | | Peter Mendoza Teacher. Activist. Father. Artist. Zapatista. Jaranero. I’ve worked with youth in the occupied Eastside of Austin, Texas for the last 12 years. I’m also a DJ and founding member of KPWR.org -People will Radio an independent media tool for independent voices. Son Jarocho and El Movimiento Jaranero found me in 2007. It is through Son Jarocho that I am to able work on changing myself in order to change the world. | | Joanna Saucedo Though born in Texas, I have had the pleasure to live in California, India, and Mexico. The latter experiences gave way to the worlds of the Sikh community and son Jarocho, and with them came the emergence of a new understanding of community, healing, and my own value as an individual within constantly moving communities. I am a practicing massage therapist focusing on lymphatic, vibrational, and energetic techniques, working toward incorporating more sound-based technologies in my sessions in the very near future. I believe that son Jarocho is itself a healing modality as it brings the community together to have a voice and heal through the vibrations of sound, movement, and poetic truth. |

| After graduating from UT with a Business degree, Stacey moved to the Los Angeles area to pursue her love for dance and musical theater. She attended The University of California at Irvine and graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Dance, Theater and open-by-audition-only Choreography program.
It was while she was in school that Stacey "stumbled" on to a Fred Astaire Ballroom Dance studio and joined their training program. She fell in love with the style and has been involved in partner dancing in one way or another for 20 years now. She is certified through American Style Gold levels and competed heavily in International Latin for 3 years. Her rankings include top six placements in Rising Star events in many national competitions like California, Nevada, Washington, Virginia, and Florida. Upon completion of her competing career in 1996, she was ranked 7th in the U.S. and 13th in the World in Rising Star Latin and Jive styles.
She continued training in, performing, choreographing and instructing her partnering, Jazz and Musical Theater dance for years to come. Her vast experience includes feature films, television appearances, commercials, special gala events, and stage productions. Her most recent work has involved 8 years with stage show productions in theaters and hotels in California, New York, Philadelphia, and finally overseas on cruise ships. She has quite literally been around the world and back. She is delighted to call Austin her home-base and to teach locally at various studios, when not overseas. This is her first time to instruct at Esquina Tango. Thank you to her good friend and colleague for years, Monica, for allowing her the opportunity!
