Peter Mendoza (Son Jarocho instructor)Teacher. Activist. Father. Artist. Zapatista. Jaranero. I’ve worked with youth in the occupied Eastside of Austin, Texas  for the last 12 years. I’m also a DJ and founding member of KPWR.org -People will Radio an independent media tool for independent voices. Son Jarocho and El Movimiento Jaranero found me in 2007.  It is through Son Jarocho that I am to able work on changing myself in order to change the world.

Joanna Saucedo (Son Jarocho instructor)Though born in Texas, I have had the pleasure to live in California, India, and Mexico.  The latter experiences gave way to the worlds of the Sikh community and son Jarocho, and with them came the emergence of a new understanding of community, healing, and my own value as an individual within constantly moving communities.  I am a practicing massage therapist focusing on lymphatic, vibrational, and energetic techniques, working toward incorporating more sound-based technologies in my sessions in the very near future.  I believe that son Jarocho is itself a healing modality as it brings the community together to have a voice and heal through the vibrations of sound, movement, and poetic truth.
