| | The members of Soniquete met in Austin in the late 1990s, when all were playing latin music with different local bands. Founder Isai Chacon united with band mates Pepe Gaytan and Angel Ibanez to create a unique fusion of Colombian and Mexican folk music with Cuban son and flamenco. This new sound was developed on their first record, "No se la clave", recorded in 2001. Soniquete's distinctive sound has left an indelible imprint on Austin's latin music scene as the band continues to develop and evolve, always in response to their many enthusiastic fans.
