| “A journey behind the blindfold” with Leyla Castro
| Trance Dance is a unique blend of body movement, healing sounds, dynamic percussive rhythms, transformational breathing techniques and the innovative use of a blindfold or bandana - together stimulating a 'trance' state that promotes spiritual awakenings, mental clarity, physical stamina and emotional well-being. Driven by unique musical soundtracks, Trance Dance takes participants on an 'inner journey' not limited to our normal perceptions of space/time. Ritual trance journeys have been a vital part of many cultures for thousands of years. This contemporary approach to Trance Dance brings together the richness of these ancient rituals with some highly effective modern techniques. TranceDance's primary focus is on healing and spiritual evolution. By dancing within the seclusion of darkness participants discover parallel realities where solutions to seemingly unsolvable problems are possible. Through Trance Dance we `disappear', becoming more like spirit, and simultaneously less attached to life's ordinary difficulties, making it possible at these moments to let these problems go. Anyone can trance dance because there are no steps or external expectations. Trance dance is not about performance or musical skill, but transformation and expansion of consciousness, bringing healing in a powerful and energetic way while recovering a sense of wholeness and freedom.
| | Leyla Castro: Originally from Chile, Leyla's approach to well-being uses movement, creativity, and body wisdom as a means to promote self- awareness, transformation, and healing. Her focus is on cultivating bodily intuition, experiential anatomy, and learning to listen to -and trust- the felt sense as a gateway to knowledge. Leyla’s therapeutic background offers students an opportunity to emerge following their own rhythms. | | What to bring: Blindfold or cloth bandana Wear loose, comfortable clothing Any articles that have deep significance to you (power objects) | |
