Special Hula Hoop WorkshopSaturday October 15th
Time: 4:00 pm - 5:30pm Instructor: Tricia Belle Storie Level: Beginner Fee: $15 per person non-members / $12 per person for Esquina-members. No pre-registration needed Bio: Tricia Belle Storie has been a professional performer since age 7, with a focus on theatre, singing, comedy and dance. In her early twenties, she discovered the joy of circus arts and since has fully immersed herself in them. Four years ago, she picked up a hula hoop and it has become as much a part of her life as her elbows. Tricia Belle has taught and performed hula hoop at theatres, private parties, festivals, circuses, theme parks and sidewalks around the continental U.S. and in the U.S.V.I. (St.Croix).
As a performer, she is intense, passionate and whimsical, whether performing with standard, multi or fire hoop. As a teacher she is patient, silly and has taught more than 1,100 people the art of hooping. She is very excited to have the opportunity to bring hooping to the Esquina Tango community!
Class Description: In this beginning hoop playshop, we will begin by exploring the posture and movements essential to proper hooping, then pick up our hoops and feel them as an extension of ourselves, before moving onto learning a few simple tricks, both on and off body. Wear comfortable clothes that are not too slick. I recommend shorts and sleeveless shirts that provide decent friction. If you are feeling daring, tops that reveal the tummy will make it easier to keep the hoops on your waist and hips. Soft, flexible shoes or barefoot will be best. Also, feel free to bring your own hoop, but I will provide some, as well.
