About the classes:
Beginner, Pre- Intermediate, Intermediate, Advance and All level classes offered. Tango is a highly improvisational dance that is built in layers.
Beginners are guided in understanding the structure of tango from the start. In a relaxed atmosphere, students are coached in the skills of leading and following — as well as the etiquette and culture of Argentine Tango. As students progress to the different levels more complex figures and technique are taught with lots of personal attention and a great sense of humor!
What class to take:What is Argentine Tango? A type of music characterized by its passionate feeling (heard in the “cries” of the bandoneón, a concertina-like instrument essential part of tango). The dance is characterized by an improvisational & heartfelt approach to the interpretation of the music & includes dramatic pauses & syncopated rhythms.
Beginner level, no experience needed for this classes. New session start at the beginning of every month.
Mixed Level, students sarting with one ore two month of experience are welcome to this class along with int and adv dancers.
Pre-Intermediate Level, students with three to four month of experience are welcome to this class.
Intermediate Level, ask instructor before moving to this class. Six to 9 month of experience recommended.
No partner needed for any class!
What is Milonga? The most cheerful & lively in feeling & tempo, with a steady 2/4 rhythm. The dance emphasizes this rhythm with a step on each beat & sometimes on the off beats as well.
What is Vals? Argentine waltz music, less dramatic than that of tango, & characterized by a flowing 3/4 rhythm. In the dance, tango steps are adapted to the graceful flow of that rhythm, & the emphasis is on creating movements that are smooth and gliding.
Tango, milonga & vals are the three rhythms that are played at milongas (tango dance club) where the milonguero/a (person whose life revolves around dancing & tango) goes to dance and socialize!
