What is a Milonga: Milonga is an event where Argentine tango is danced. The venue dedicated to milongas may also be called “milonga”. People who frequently go to milongas may be called milongueros.
The music played is mainly tango, vals and milonga. Most milongas are held on a regular basis (usually weekly), and they often begin with dancing classes and sometimes demonstration dances. Usually, three to five songs of a kind are played in a row (this is called tanda) followed by a short musical break (called cortina) to clear the dance floor and facilitate partner changes. There are a number of informal rules that dictate how dancers should choose their dancing partners and navigate the floor.[1]

Kizomba Practice
Jan 26 @ 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm

Kizomba Practica, AKA Kizomba Church, with Kizomba Uwa every Sunday!!

What happens in Practica?

In practica, we encourage people to dance, have fun, and most importantly, feel comfortable in an environment where they are able to ask questions; communicate about what they feel and what they want to learn. Aaron and Marietta walk around and dance with each individual assisting wherever needed. Also, local Kizomba instructors typically attend and will also be more than happy to assist you. We are here to inspire!

In class, we usually have to focus on a particular lesson, and in a social setting people don’t want to be taught how to dance on the dance floor. Practica offers us a middle ground between the two where you are still social dancing, but in a learning(no judgment zone) environment. Feel free to ask questions while dancing, request to dance with as many new people as possible, or just sit and observe!

If you attend, we guarantee you will learn something new every week. Our focus is to build confidence and strong social dancers! Austin can become a city known for great Kizomba dancers, all we need is your desire and participation. Together, we can activate your dance-heart! ❤️

*This is a donation based event. Our ability to provide you with a free space depends on your generosity* Thank you!
